Enter the dish and its ingredients

  1. From the intended menu, choose Add dish. For an existing record, open the dish and choose Edit dish.
  2. Enter Dish name and Section. Add a description or price if useful.
  3. In Ingredients, search for each ingredient actually used. Select an existing record or create a custom ingredient and review its flags.
  4. Include house recipes, sauces, garnish, and bought-in components. Remove any ingredient that is no longer in the recipe.
  5. Read Live allergen preview and resolve missing or unreviewed ingredients.

This dish has no ingredients to list is an explicit record for an appropriate item with no entered ingredients. Do not select it just to make an unfinished recipe appear complete. It is unavailable while ingredients are selected.

Add notes and save deliberately

Kitchen note is for the team and inspector record; it does not appear on the public web menu. Preparation note records relevant preparation context. Select Show preparation note publicly only when that note should be available in public outputs with preparation notes enabled.

Under Availability, choose Visible on menus or Hidden from outputs. Review any variants and overrides, then select Create dish or Save dish. The editor’s live preview is not a saved result.

Check the saved dish’s ingredients, Contains/May contain lists, notes, and updated information. If it belongs to multiple menus, review those outputs too. Generate fresh PDFs and replace printed sheets after a recipe change.

If a dish cannot be saved

Read Dish not saved and the field-level messages. Check required fields, price format, duplicate or incomplete override reasons, and variant names. If someone else changed the dish, review the latest saved version before reapplying your work; do not overwrite a colleague’s changes blindly.

Duplicate dish creates another record and opens its editor. Give it a clear name and review its ingredients before sharing. To stop serving an item temporarily, hiding it keeps the card for later. Deleting a dish removes it from menus; version history is not a deleted-dish recovery tool.
