How it works

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Good questions. Clear answers.

Here’s what to expect before you start.

What is Dishcard?

Dishcard is restaurant allergen chart software for independent restaurants, cafés, bakeries and food trucks. Your team records dishes, ingredients and allergen flags. Dishcard uses those records to create a printable allergen matrix, a QR web menu and a PDF with ingredient details.

How does Dishcard work out the allergens in a dish?

A dish inherits the Contains and May contain flags recorded on its ingredients, including ingredients within house recipes. Your team checks recipes and supplier labels before marking the records reviewed. Dishcard does not infer allergens from a dish name or menu photo.

What happens when I change a recipe or supplier?

Update the relevant ingredient record. Dishcard recalculates the affected dishes, and the hosted web menu reflects saved changes. Generate a fresh PDF and replace printed copies after changes; files already downloaded and sheets already printed do not update themselves.

Does Dishcard support the US Big 9 and EU/UK 14?

Yes. Choose the US Big 9 or EU/UK 14 allergen set, with custom additions available. Changing the set requires reviewing affected records. These are tools for organizing ingredient information, not a certification that your menu meets every local requirement.

How much does Dishcard cost?

Dishcard costs USD $19 per month or $190 per year for one restaurant, with unlimited dishes and teammates. The 14-day free trial requires no payment card. Each restaurant location needs its own subscription.

Can guests see the menu without an account?

Yes. Guests open your published web menu from its link or QR code without logging in or downloading an app. The menu shows the ingredient-based allergen information you have entered and reminds guests to confirm details with your team.

Can I bring an existing menu into Dishcard?

Yes. Type dishes, paste menu text, or upload a menu photo or PDF to create a draft. Review the extracted names and sections before saving. Ingredients and allergen records still need to be entered and checked by your team.

Does Dishcard certify that food is suitable for someone with an allergy?

No. Dishcard communicates the ingredient information recorded by your restaurant. It does not test food or certify that a dish is suitable for a guest. Product labels, recipe accuracy, preparation practices and a conversation with staff still matter.
