Export data, delete a restaurant, or restore it
Keep a complete copy, understand the 30-day recovery period, and separate restaurant deletion from subscription cancellation.
For: Team members exporting data; owners deleting or restoring a restaurant

Download a copy before deleting
Open Export your data, also listed under Settings for owners and editors. Exports remain available when editing is paused and during a scheduled deletion’s recovery period. They include the restaurant profile, dishes, ingredients, menu configuration, notes, and saved history.
- Confirm the restaurant name and the dish, ingredient, and menu counts.
- Select Download JSON for the full record structure, or Download CSV for spreadsheet use.
- Open the downloaded file and check that it contains the expected restaurant and records before relying on it as your copy.
- Store it somewhere you can access independently of the Dishcard session.
Exports include private kitchen notes and restaurant records. They are different from a guest menu or print-ready inspector PDF. The CSV contains record types and structured data; it is not the same format as the ingredient-import CSV. There is no complete-account upload-and-restore control in this workflow.

Deleting a restaurant does not cancel a paid subscription. If you intend to stop a subscription, first use Plan & billing → Open billing portal and confirm its cancellation status. Exporting data does not cancel it either.
- As the owner, open Settings → Delete or restore.
- Review Keep a copy first and download an export if you have not already done so.
- Select Delete restaurant. Read the confirmation: the public menu goes offline immediately, and recovery is available for 30 days.
- Type the restaurant name exactly into the confirmation field, then select Delete restaurant. Use Keep restaurant if you decide not to proceed.
- Confirm the page says Restaurant deletion is scheduled and note the displayed recovery deadline.
Restore within the recovery period
The owner can return to Delete or restore and select Restore restaurant before the deadline. Wait for Restaurant restored., then confirm the menus, dishes, and ingredients are present.
Restoring brings back the restaurant data. Editing and public access still depend on the subscription state, so check Plan & billing and the actual guest menu afterward. Restoration does not automatically restart or cancel a subscription.
If the page says The recovery period has ended, this restaurant can no longer be restored using this control. Do not promise the team that an export can be uploaded to recreate the account automatically. If deletion or restoration fails, read the error and inspect the current status before repeating the action. Only the owner can delete or restore; teammates should ask that owner to make the decision.
